Deutsche Telekom to start auction for radio towers in October
Published September 28th, 2007
Deutsche Telekom AG (NYSE:DT) will start the auction for its radio towers and aerial masts at the beginning of October, Handelsblatt reported.
Three potential buyers have emerged, among them Macquarie Bank and French broadcaster Telediffusion de France (TDF), both of which have also made bids for Deutsche Telekom’s Media and Broadcasting unit, the paper said.
Two of the potential bidders aim to buy the towers before the start of the auction, though they have been unable to agree on a price with Deutsche Telekom.
The price might total up to 2 bln eur, the newspaper said, citing Sal Oppenheim - well above the 1 bln eur quoted so far.
The sale is expected to be finalised within the next four weeks, the paper said, citing company sources.
