Egypt’s central bank said on Tuesday it had cancelled an auction for seven-year bonds. It gave no reason for the decision.

The Finance Ministry had planned to reopen seven-year bonds worth two billion Egyptian pounds on July 30 after postponing it from July 22.

The bonds were due to mature on September 20, 2012.

When the central bank first launched the 7-year bonds in September, it sold paper worth 2 billion pounds.
