Alrosa Auctions $45.2 million of Rough Diamonds

At Alrosa’s 22nd international auction for special sizes rough diamonds, held on Wednesday, 165 parcels were sold for more than $45.2 million. Special size auctions offer rough diamonds weighing more than 10.8 carats.

21 thousand carats of large rough diamonds were put up for auction, including 16 stones, each weighing more than 50 carats. The largest diamond auctioned weighed 135.46 carats.

Representatives of 62 companies that specialize in large diamonds, from Russia, Israel, Belgium, India, UAE, U.S. and Lebanon, attended the auction.

The next auction will begin at the end of June 2007.
